Korea is situated on a peninsula, which spans 1,100 kilometers north to
south and lies between the East Sea and the Yellow Sea. The Korean Peninsula
lies in the northeastern section of the Asian continent, in the northwestern
corner of the Pacific Ocean. It shares its northern border with China
and Russia. To the east lies the East Sea, and beyond that is Japan. In
addition to the mainland peninsula, Korea also includes some 3,000 islands.
Korea is preparing itself to be a major world force in the dynamic Asia
Pacific area in the 21st Century. The Korean urban environment is one of
the safest in the world; street crime is almost unheard of Korea is proud
of its extremely low rate. Moreover, Koreans are known for their hospitality
toward foreign guests. As well proved through many international mega-events
such as the Asian Games and Olympic games, personal safety is not a matter
of concern anywhere in this country. |
